Larry is the former head of the Amazon.com worldwide Information Security team, a twenty-year Internet veteran, and a pioneering Internet Security author.

Larry's successes as an Infosec professional caps his unusually diverse expertise in the disciplines of software development, operating system internals, massive-scale infrastructure management, and data center operations.

At Amazon.com, Larry made notable contributions betwen 1999 through 2006. While managing its Infosec team he played instrumental roles in regulatory and industry compliance efforts including Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, Payment Card Industry / Data Security Standard (PCI/DSS), Safe Harbor, and international privacy laws.

At Amazon.com Larry also founded and managed sundry software teams that built proprietary automation frameworks which enabled years of massive infrastructure scaling. He led the team that powers the world's largest online affiliate network, and was responsible for operationalizing the production launch of Amazon.com Web Services Version 1.0.

Larry's publications include Actually Useful Internet Security Techniques a pioneering text published in four languages. It remained recommended reading by the SANS Institute for five years after going out of print. His current writings include a blog at RiskBloggers.com.
